Opinion: Yoda’s strict Jedi textualism bolstered the rise of anti-republican sentiment among the Umbarans, leading to Vader’s rise

Jedi textualism, the interpretative approach which focuses on close observance of the Jedi Code, cemented itself as the dominant mode of Jedi engagement throughout the late Clone Wars. The Jedi textualist approach, which became particularly popular within populist Alderaanian system and Republican Naboo parsec, was propagated primarily through the doctrine of Jedi Grand Master Yoda. Yoda’s prodigal rise through the Jedi order among peers like Plo Koon, Yaddle, Pra-Tre Veter, Brandon Nimmo, Yarael Poof, Isaac Okoro, Oppo Rancisis, Mace Windu, Julius Randle, Tera Sinube, Cohmac Vitusm, and Sifo-Dyas, was unprecedented in galactic history and can be attributed to his strict adherence to mystical doctrine as it was written during the Dawn of the Jedi.

Upon becoming Jedi Grandmaster and Chairman of the Jedi council, Yoda established that “original meaning we seek, recovery of the Order’s public orientation towards the galaxy we must.” There was initial dissent within the council against this rigid approach organized around Jedi Master Ima Gun-Di and Jarrett Allen. This perspective is encapsulated in Gun-Di’s speech in front of the Old Republic’s Senate. Gun-Di spoke, “Taka ma ñayi nguiakoi ñayivi ñatu na ja’a tnu’u ja commerce clause kusa’a ndeva’ña-i, su’uva kajito.” However, this initial dissent was rapidly subdued by Yoda’s partisan chokehold on the executive sector of the Coruscantian wing of the Jedi.

Yet as Yoda’s textualistism cemented itself as the dominant mode of the Jedi dialectical approach, discontent rose in the outer systems, particularly among the key parsec of Umbara. The Umbarans, a historically underrepresented planet in the galactic republic due to discriminatory laws, argued that to exclude non-textual factors is to lose the spirit and values that the Jedi codes were constructed around. Tensions escalated between the Umbarans and the Jedi/Republican forces designated to protect them until Umbaran leader Fidel Ortsac issued his Little Red Proclamation. Small scale rebellion became a full blown revolution under the influence of General Krell. Jedi Republican forces were diverted to fight the Umbaran forces, leaving Annakin Skywalker unsupervised during his Padawanship. Vader’s rise was cemented during this period.

Experts predict that this will lead to an overturning of Tony v. Bobson and a reinterpretation of statutory regulations regarding the Commerce and Due Process Clauses.
