URGENT POWER OUTAGE NOTICE: THE POWER WAS OUT RECENTLY AND/OR WILL BE OUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Attention Bowdoin community: in light of recent/future blackouts, please read the attached document titled: “Signs of Power Outages to review the possible signs of a power outage and become aware of the effects of power outages.

The effects of power outages may include, but are not limited to, darkness, cold temperatures, difficulty charging iPads, lack of wifi, and lack of electricity. In the event of a power outage, Central Maine Power may or may not be aware of the outage. If Central Maine Power does become aware of the outage, it may or may not be fixed in a timely manner.
Please review the attached document titled: “An introductory guide to powerline work in high-voltage systems”. In the event of inclement weather, students may need to perform rudimentary service to power lines; all students should be certain that their NCCER “Power Line Worker Certification” is up to date, and that they have been trained on both ASCR overhead lines and medium-voltage transmission lines.
